History
The Democratic Party is the oldest political party in continuous operation in America and is one of the oldest parties in the world. The Hoboken Democratic Party is comprised of 80 people who are elected every two years to represent each of the 40 voting districts within the 6 wards of Hoboken. This unpaid municipal body forms the foundation of the national party. Each committeeperson forges personal relationships with members of their community, champions the interests of their neighbors, and coordinates campaign activities for local and visiting candidates. Ultimately, these activities build community around shared values and concerns.
